Encyclopaedia
Know everything. Speak every language, recognise every pattern, and recall every fact. Knowledge is its own reward.
Those skilled in Encyclopaedia:
- Recall information on any subject.
- Study and research efficiently.
- Connect disparate fields of knowledge.
3: Linguistics
You learn one language of your choice. You learn an extra language when you reach 5, 7, and 9 in Encyclopaedia.
5: Fascination
Choose a topic. Gain an edge on passive rolls made regarding that topic.
Fascinations should be specific enough that players look to bend lines of enquiry towards them in order to justify this bonus. If a fascination is broad enough that it comes up more than once or twice without specific effort (or tremendous luck), then it's probably too broad. Fascinations can afford to be more broad the further removed they are from the topic of your game.
A few suggestions on the kinds of topic that might be appropriate for a fascination:
Traditional farming techniques, art history, canoes, non-rhyming poetry.
7: One-Track Mind
When you utilise your Fascination in social situations, add your Encyclopaedia to any social rolls.
9: Dilettante
Choose an ability from another skill with a skill requirement of 5 or 7. You may use the chosen ability without meeting the requirement. You may change the chosen ability every time you rest.
